Metallica on Ukulele: Nothing Else Matters

Introduction

It’s not easy to be a musician. You have to know how to play the instrument, you need patience and practice, and most importantly you need time. When people think about music making they often assume that it takes hours of work in order for anything good to happen. But what if I told you that there was a new way? What if I told you that with just one hour per week, anyone could learn the ukulele? That would be amazing! And so today we’re going to talk about why playing the ukulele can be fun and easy- even for beginners! We can learn how to play to one of my favorite bands, Metallica on ukulele.

What is the ukulele and what are its origins

The ukulele is a small stringed instrument that originated in Hawaii. It’s typically made of wood, and has four nylon or gut strings that are tuned to GCEA. The ukulele is often considered to be a miniature guitar, and it’s popularity has been growing in recent years as more and more people learn how to play it.

How to hold the ukulele and how to make basic chords

In order to hold the ukulele properly, you’ll want to place it so that the sound hole is facing you. You’ll then need to hold it against your chest with your left hand, and use your right hand to hold the chord bar. To make a basic C chord, you’ll need to hold down the third fret on the first string with your left hand, and then pluck the string with your right. You can find more information about how to make chords online.

Strumming techniques and some Metallica on ukulele

Now that we know how to hold the ukulele and make some basic chords, it’s time to start strumming. There are lots of different strumming techniques, but we’ll keep it simple for now. Just use your right hand to strum the strings downward in a steady motion.

Metallica is a heavy metal band that was formed in 1981. The band was based in Los Angeles for most of its career. Their fast tempos, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship made them one of the founding “big four” bands of thrash metal. Metallica’s current lineup comprises founding members and primary songwriters James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, longtime lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, bassist Robert Trujillo, as well as former guitarists Dave Mustaine (who went on to form Megadeth) and Jason Newsted (who went on to play with Ozzy Osbourne). It was one of my most formative bands growing up, and I have fun introducing Metallica songs to my ukulele group.

You can try practicing with some fun Metallica songs like “Enter Sandman” or “Master of Puppets”.

Or download this chord chart that I used with my ukulele group, “Nothing Else Matters”. It’s in a key that is easy to play for ukulele, Em.
