MEET KAREN CHOW @ THE CITYFAIR UKEJAM SUNDAY, JUNE 9, 2024
Growing up in a family where music was more than just a pastime, Karen Chow’s zest for music was evident from a young age. Her hands danced on piano keys since she could reach them, and her passion only grew as she progressed through the grades of the Royal Conservatory of Music. A multi-instrumentalist, Karen’s musical explorations did not stop with the piano. Her curiosity and eclectic tastes led her to the ukulele, an instrument she believes holds the unique power to bring people together. This belief, along with her skill, saw her rise to become the co-leader of the Tigard Ukulele Group, where she guides and inspires ukulele players of all levels. Recognizing the growing fervor for this versatile instrument and the need for a community platform, Karen took her leadership one step further. She founded Mahalo Music Mag, https://mahalomusicmag.com/ an online resource that has quickly become a go-to guide for both budding and experienced ukulele players worldwide. The web site offers everything from tutorials to chord charts, fostering a global community that shares Karen’s love for the humble ukulele.
